Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and DocSnippet LLC ("DocSnippet", "we", "us") governing your access to and use of docsnippet.com and the DocSnippet API and MCP server (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using it you represent that you meet this requirement and that, if using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you are authorised to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2. Account

You may sign in using a GitHub or Google account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at privacy@docsnippet.com if you believe your account or API keys have been compromised. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that we reasonably believe are being used fraudulently or in violation of these Terms.

3. API keys

You may generate up to 10 active API keys per account. Keep your keys confidential — anyone who has a key can make requests that count against your quota. You are responsible for any use of your keys. You can revoke keys at any time from your dashboard.

4. Acceptable use

You may not use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation.
• Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data at a scale that exceeds your plan limits or unreasonably burdens our infrastructure.
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits or quotas by any means, including creating multiple accounts.
• Access or probe our systems for vulnerabilities without prior written authorisation.
• Distribute malware, phishing content, or other harmful code via the Service.
• Resell or sublicense access to the Service without our prior written consent.
• Impersonate DocSnippet or any other person or entity.

We may monitor usage for abuse and may throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these restrictions without notice.

5. Plans and limits

Free-tier limits reset at 00:00 UTC. Requests that exceed the free limit receive a 429 Too Many Requests response. We may change plan prices or limits on 30 days' notice.

6. Payments and subscriptions

Pro subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe. By subscribing you authorise recurring charges to your payment method. All charges are in USD and are non-refundable except where required by law.

You may cancel at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you retain Pro access until then. We do not offer partial-month refunds.

If a payment fails we will retry and may downgrade your account to the Free plan after reasonable notice.

7. Intellectual property

DocSnippet and its logos, design, and software are the intellectual property of DocSnippet LLC. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for your own lawful purposes.

Documentation content indexed by the Service belongs to the respective library authors and is subject to their own licences. DocSnippet does not claim ownership of third-party documentation.

You retain ownership of any data you submit to the Service. By submitting data you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it solely to provide and improve the Service.

8. Availability and modifications

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time. We will give reasonable notice of significant changes where possible. For paid subscribers, we will provide at least 30 days' notice of service discontinuation and offer a pro-rated refund for any unused portion of a prepaid period.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, DocSnippet disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that search results are accurate, complete, or up to date.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, DocSnippet's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) £50 GBP.

In no event shall DocSnippet be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DocSnippet LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party right.

12. Termination

Either party may terminate these Terms at any time. We may terminate or suspend your access immediately for cause (e.g. violation of the Acceptable Use policy). Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will do so (including sections 9, 10, 11, and 13).

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim in local courts.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
